Board Member Attendance: Terry H, Steve D, Victoria F, John C | Neighborhood Attendance: Barb P, Binny H, Dave H, Pamela O (virtual), Rick R

Meeting: 7 – 8 pm

Meeting Minutes from April 19 were read and approved

HOA Locations for July and Aug have been posted; there will be NO MEETING IN JUNE

AGENDA ITEM 1 – Spring clean-up results and remaining jobs

Great turnout! Photos on website and FB. Done: Most fence repairs; spraying weeds; trash pickup along the creek; new gravel for two trails.

Remaining tasks

  • TRAILS: We ran out of gravel for one of the trails. ACTION: Terry will get a half load or 3 yards worth of gravel. Side note: The fines are packed down so we don’t need bigger rocks, but will put in erosion bars that are perpendicular to the trail.

  • WEEDS: Steve will take a sprayer and will continue to spray weeds as seen.

  • ADDITIONAL CREEK CLEAN-UP: There is a pool of stagnant water directly behind a house on the South side of the creek. There may be a breach in the natural flow of the creek. Also, it’s low terrain which would need some trench work (review this idea in Sept when it’s dry). Consider spraying for mosquitos after work noted below has been completed.

    • Steve’s assessment: The trees and shrubs should be cut and cleaned away from the stream west of the culvert. This should allow the marsh to drain faster. Also, from Virgil along the stream and into the grassy wetland, there were 3-4 trees that should be removed to clear that part of the stream. I don’t see any way to do anything else that would help drain the marsh faster.

  • ACTION: Approve 1 more day of work from the Lumberjack LLC crew, which consists of 3 guys who have done great work at a very reasonable price.

  • WOOD CHIPPING: The person who chips wood charges by the hour and Terry will call him.

  • BUDGET NOTE, ACTION: There should be a safety net so there’s a minimum amount in cash reserves, and we should use extra funds to keep the neighborhood safe as well as updating sections so common areas like the entrances look nicer. ACTION: Board approval on minimum amount.

AGENDA ITEM 2 - Landscaping Policy & Trash/Recycling

Send a general letter/reminder to all homes re these policies; it can go out with the next set of bills in July.

  • ACTION: Victoria to create a letter, have it approved, and work with Cindi to mail it.

  • ACTION: Cindi will create a Trails venmo account that we can use in the next flyer when we have details about the fall clean-up.

AGENDA ITEM 3 - Neighborhood Landscaping

UPDATE FROM JOHN RE MAY MOWING:

  • Time: 5.5 hours excluding weed whacking. It took slightly longer than expected because mesh had to be removed from the blades (from comcast flags, etc) and branches, rocks, etc had to be moved. Completed the entire section noted below.* $300 for the mower.

  • Noted that a lot of people help as volunteers on their own time, but it was also agreed we shouldn’t count on it and John/Jack will continue to do at least one pass over all sections.

  • ACTION: Dave will let Victoria know if the two interior islands can be done by the person who mows his yard. If not, Victoria will alert neighborhood kids. $20 for the small one and $30 for the big one. Loop in Cindi.

    • *These dates are estimates and depend on weather conditions. May-July: 3-4 times and Aug-Sept: 2 times.

  • Mow perimeter trail between split rail fence and weed whack each side of both fences, one mower width

  • Mow and trim Virgil interior island

  • Mow and trim W. 58th Place interior island

  • Mow and trim the open space lot, southeast of the west bridge; trim around the bridge

  • Mow and trim the open space lot, northwest of the east bridge; trim around the bridge

  • Weed whack both sides of the walking path that leads to the canal

AGENDA ITEM 4 - Neighborhood Entrance Signs

UPDATE FROM JOHN (Sue was out of town):

  • Keep light stone as the framework and use dark single words for the metal cut out. Three logos were shown as possibilities, but they were hand drawn and better ones will be provided. Backlighting would be nice.

  • They were interested in a company in Utah who manufactures and ships metal laser signs – we would need to install it though. A local company would be preferred.

  • ACTION: Sue will provide proofs and a quote.

  • ACTION: Pamela’s father may have suggestions about how we can use additional solar lighting to backlight the signs or at least have some additional lighting. He can also suggest how much we should cut back trees, etc. We agreed that adding in power from Xcel would be expensive and probably unnecessary.
